New course: Watch 15 movies in 3 weeks

children of heavenTired of sunlight? A new Intersession course, Foreign Language 110, Introduction to Foreign Film, gives you a great reason to stay inside: The three-week course requires watching 15 foreign films, from “Life is Beautiful” to “Children of Heaven,” right, from “Good Bye Lenin!” to “Farewell My Concubine.”

The movies are all subtitled, and available online (there may be a fee), at local libraries or on YouTube. But you’ll have to do more than curl up on the couch and watch TV. The three-credit course also requires homework for each movie, plus three essays. Fortunately, you can access the course space the day after you register and get a head start.

Other accelerated Global Campus sessions include the three-week Winter Session and six-week summer terms. “These sessions let students earn their degrees more quickly,” said Global Campus Executive Director Dave Cillay. “And they provide flexibility for students with busy lives.”
