Nutting wins ASWSU-Online election

JosephNutting     Joseph Nutting has won the race for ASWSU-Online student government president by a single vote.
Nutting defeated incumbent Larry Lawrence, who had previously served as senator and vice president.
“I'm excited to have the chance to serve the WSU Online community,” Nutting said. “I hope that, with the help of ASWSU-Online and the WSU Online staff, I can promote positive change from which our community can benefit.”
Nutting owns the Cream & Sugar cafĂ© in Vancouver, Wash. He also works with the board of directors at IQ Credit Union, and is chairman of the IQ Supervisory Committee. Previously, he worked at Starbucks as a retail manager, and in the risk management division at their corporate office. He’s majoring in Management Information Systems at WSU Online.
“I am going to begin the transition so President-elect Joseph Nutting can hit the ground running when he starts in mid-May,” said Lawrence, who hopes to continue working with ASWSU-Online. "At the second meeting in May I am going to throw my hat in the ring for one of the open Senate positions to stay involved and to make sure the student government is fully staffed for voting items."
ASWSU-Online’s responsibilities include administering a scholarship program, and planning face to face events, such as this month’s Tacoma Rendezvous.
